Free Fly Fit Guide

The first thing to know when shopping for Free Fly garments is that some of them will shrink. Due to the bamboo blend material, which gives Free Fly that silky, buttery-soft feeling, their garments are made with extra space to accommodate some shrinking. As a result, sizing their items is sometimes difficult. 

Free Fly includes a helpful fit guide on the hang tag of each of their garments that explains how much the item will shrink, so you can check before you wash it and know how it will fit after.

The best thing to do is go with your normal size, try it on before washing it to confirm it fits loosely and is slightly bigger than you like, then wash and air dry the garments. Some garments shrink differently than others, so we've listed out some styles of Free Fly and how they should fit before you wash it.

Lightweight and slub styles

The Free Fly Lightweight Hoody, Lightweight Shore Hoody, or Slub Hoody can shrink up to 1 inch in length, and 1/2 inch in width when it's washed on cold and hung to dry. The fit should feel a little loose and long when you first try it on so that after it's washed, it will feel perfect.

Shade, Flex, and Motion styles

The Free Fly Shade, Flex, and Motion styles do not shrink. These styles are made to hold their fit and should wear the same before and after washing them. It is still recommended you wash them on cold and hang them to dry in order to keep the fibers in great condition.
